Vocabulary 3


Macro lens: lens designed to be at top sharpness over a flat field
Manuel exposure: camera operating mode that requires the user to determine the aperture and shutter speed 
Megabyte: over one million bytes
Megapixel: million pixels
Memory: storage capacity of a hard drive or other recording media
Memory card: stores all images and other things
Menu: on screen listing of user options
Mode: specified operating conditions
Noise: digital equivalent of grain
Pa: moving the camera to follow a moving subject
Perspective: effect of the distance between the camera & image elements
Pixel: derived from picture element
Ram: stands for random access memory, which is a computers memory capacity
RAW: an image file format that has little or no international processing by the camera.it contains 12-but color information a wider range of data that 8-bit formats suck as jpg
RESOLUTION: the amount of data available for an image as applied to image size. It is expressed in pixels or megapixels 
SHUTTER: the apparatus that controls the amount of time during which light is allowed to reach the sensitized medium. 
SLR: single lens reflex
STOP: to reduce the size of the diaphragm opening by using a higher f/number
STROBE: An electronic light source that produces a series of evenly spaced bursts of light
THUMBNAIL: a miniaturized representation of an image file
TRIPOD: a 3 legged stand that stabilizes the camera and eliminates camera shake caused by body movement or vibration
TTL: through the lens
USB: universal series bus. This interface standard allows outlying accessories  to be plugged and unplugged
VR: vibration reduction 
WIDE-ANGLE LENS : lens that produces a greater angle of view that you would see with your eyes, causes the image to appear stretched
